Jim Bertz

Lead Instructor

Jim has coached athletes of all ages, from beginners to elites in tumbling and trampoline (T&T). He has developed many Junior Olympic and elite athletes. He has also trained numerous USA Gymnastics and USTA national champions in the sport. As an instructor, Jim’s main goal is to get kids involved in an activity they love that will keep them active and healthy.

He understands, first-hand, what it takes to perform at the elite level. Jim competed in all three T&T events from 1972-1980 as a senior elite athlete. He has won many national and world age-group championships in all three T&T events. Jim was the World Elite Tumbling Champion in 1976 & 1978. In 2008, he was inducted into the World Acrobatic Society’s Hall of Legends for his dedication to the sport.

In addition to his experience in trampoline and tumbling, Jim has expertise in cheer-focused tumbling programs. Over the past 20 years, he has developed and managed a wide range of athletic and recreation programs for both kids and adults. Today, Jim is recognized in T&T circles as a top coach and trainer. Under Jim’s direction, Airborne Academy class participants can be confident they are learning proper techniques and getting advice that will help them reach new heights!

Secondary Instructors

In addition to our core staff, Airborne Academy hires several secondary instructors to help teach classes. Each of these individuals must go through a screening process that includes face-to-face interviews, personal references, and a background check. Since we take pride in the level of instruction we provide, we only hire the best! Every secondary instructor we employ is required to have strong experience and knowledge of the sport, as well as the ability to work with individuals and groups of children, in a positive way.
